The Paralegal Cup is the only mooting competition in the world that is exclusive to Paralegal students enrolled in a Certificate or Diploma program. The competition strengthens student advocacy and critical thinking skills by focusing on oral and written advocacy, professionalism, and resiliency.
Jana Smith and Andrew Wallace of Sheridan College are the 2016 Paralegal Cup Champions. Sheridan College's success came with their inaugural appearance in the competition.

The 2016 intercollegiate mooting competition on Nov. 19 and 20, 2016 is the only event of its kind in Ontario for paralegal students, providing an opportunity for teams to demonstrate their advocacy, research and writing skills.
The 2015 Paralegal Cup Moot case is a modified version of the Supreme Court of Canada case, British Columbia (Workers’ Compensation Appeal Tribunal) v Fraser Health Authority, 2016 SCC 25.
The Competition Guidelines address creating and presenting submissions around the scope of the issue(s), and they provide details about the written submission component of the competition.

Following the success of the 2015 Paralegal Cup, Robert Lapper, the CEO of the Law Society of Upper Canada extended an invitation to host the 2016 Paralegal Cup competition at Osgoode Hall.
The Paralegal Cup Steering Committee has graciously accepted Robert Lapper's offer to host the competition at Osgoode Hall, located at the Law Society of Upper Canada's offices. Preparations are well under way for the 2016 Paralegal Cup Intercollegiate Mooting Competition

Please note, for the 2015 competition the score for the written component was calculated into the overall score for the first four rounds. As a result, some teams with strong oral marks did not advance while some teams with strong written marks did.
Please further note that there were three memo judges. The team's written score consists of the average of the three judge's scores. For the oral component in situations there were less than three judges, the average of the two was substituted for the third mark.
