The Paralegal Cup is the only mooting competition in the world that is exclusive to Paralegal students enrolled in a Certificate or Diploma program. The competition strengthens student advocacy and critical thinking skills by focusing on oral and written advocacy, professionalism, and resiliency.
For the past two years I have volunteered at the Paralegal Cup which is an Intercollegiate Mooting Competition. I cannot possibly say enough about this event. We have seen the top students from around the province who have thoroughly impressed the paralegal and academic communities alike. This event has grown in popularity.
I am proud to have been part of this event in past years and am looking forward to volunteering again in 2015. One of my objectives and commitments to the Paralegal Cup Standing Committee is to try and recruit colleges and students to participate in this event.
I am really deeply impressed. I have been in law school moots, I have judged moots, and I have coached moots. I have never seen more effectively organized and better advocacy demonstrated in a moot competition, anywhere I have been.

The Paralegal Cup is the only extra-curricular academic event in Ontario that provides paralegal students with the opportunity to compete in the art of oral advocacy.
Your contribution to our non-profit event, gives you a unique opportunity to encourage extra-curricular academic skill development and support experiential paralegal education in Ontario.
Community Donors are important supporters of the mission and goals of the Paralegal Cup. Contributions in any amount help support and offset the administrative costs of organizing a large-scale event. Such costs include food for students and judges, awards for the student competitors, printing, marketing, prizes, and general facilities overhead costs.
Our IndieGoGo campaign is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your commitment to the paralegal profession.
At its heart, the Paralegal Cup is about students. Students are the future of the paralegal profession. The students who participate in the competition become stronger and more confident advocates. As they graduate into the profession, they are better prepared to deliver Ontarians increased access to justice.
In 2015, the Paralegal Cup Steering Committee reached out to the Ontario Education Justice Network (OJEN) to establish a formal partnership. We worked alongside OJEN to offer 12 high-school student volunteers who expressed an interest in a legal career, the opportunity to gain volunteer hours and experience and interact with esteemed legal professionals and leading academics in the field. Moreover, two award-winning past Paralegal Cup competitors returned to serve in the role as Paralegal Cup Liasons for OJEN initiative.
Our goal is to continue to present an opportunity for high-school students to complete a portion of their mandatory community involvement hours. By volunteering in the competition, students can connect with post-secondary students and interact with leaders from the legal industry and academic worlds.
To learn more about OJEN, please follow the links below ...
From the Inaugural Paralegal Cup competition in 2013, the Ontario Paralegal Association (OPA) has been an integral partner. OPA has co-branded the competition, been a sponsor and a presenting partner. OPA provides logistical and strategical support to the competition and they are a strong advocate for supporting the Paralegal Cup initiatives. The Paralegal Cup continues to work closely with OPA, Madeline Williams is the OPA Student Director and a member of the Paralegal Cup Steering Committee.
The Ontario Paralegal Association is the voice of paralegals across Ontario, advocating in the interests of paralegals with colleges, the provincial government and the Law Society of Upper Canada. Paralegals in Ontario provide access to justice at a reasonable cost, and are regulated by the Law Society of Upper Canada.
For members of the public visiting our site, you can learn more about what paralegals in Ontario do, and find a paralegal in a practice area helpful to you. Paralegal practitioners carry liability insurance and have demonstrated the skills and competence level required to serve the needs of those accessing the justice system.
Are you a student? Are you a paralegal? Do you work in the legal services sector? Are you a member of the public? Would you like to get involved and support a non-profit academic event?

It is beyond generous and it was more than we could have ever expected. This weekend was amazing and we are so thankful. It is due to each and everyone of you. The purpose of a moot is to learn about a brand new kind of law, to become an expert in it, and then present before your senior community members, who then mentor you so you can improve your advocacy skills.
It is important that we have public events to show how productive we as paralegals are, and how we develop together and try to better ourselves.
Fallon Burns Paralegal Cup founder, Paralegal Cup Steering Committee, Student, Paralegal, LSUC Equity Advisory Group (EAG) MemberThere are two components to what makes mooting so appealing. The first is that you have a chance to stretch your academic abilities. It challenges you in the area of law. It gives you a chance to argue law at its very highest level, a Constitutional level law.
The second component is the opportunity for students to hone their skills in a safe environment, where no clients' jeopardy is on the line, and an opportunity to interact with senior mentors from the paralegal community. The mentors can impart some of their practical knowledge to the students.

Praveen Srinivasan Sales Consultant, Ulaw Practice, 2014 and 2015 Community Partner Program participantSince the beginning of the Paralegal Cup in 2013, the paralegal community has shown overwhelming support for the event’s continued success. The Cup is truly an event that brings together the entire paralegal community, students, and professionals alike.
Community Partner Program participants are important supporters of the mission and goals of the Paralegal Cup. Contributions help support and offset the administrative costs of putting on a large-scale event.
Involvement as a Paralegal Cup Community Partner is an incredible opportunity to support experiential higher education through student participation. Moreover, participation in the program speaks to the desire to give back to the community and enhance the competition’s success.
It is through the support of our Community Partner Program participants that the Paralegal Cup Moot is able to bring this academic event to paralegal students across the province.
