What excites me the most about the Paralegal Cup is the calibre of students coming though this event – they are professional and completely prepared.
You can tell how much work they have put into the event. The student competitors are starting their career before they are even licensed.

We are collaborating with the Paralegal Cup in our pilot year to bring high school students into the paralegal community and into the operations of the Cup so that they are getting an exposure to what paralegals do and they get a first exposure to mooting, it is an awesome educational event.

The energy, savvy and wit evident among these students gives me ever more confidence in the future of Ontario’s legal profession.
Congratulations to those who participated. May this be one of many rewarding debate experiences you have throughout your education and your career.

This moot competition has been a real experience for everybody. It has shown us senior paralegals the quality and caliber of students across the province, and I couldn't be more proud of them. I can’t extol enough the virtues of how wonderful this program is, how beneficial it is for the students and how much as a senior Paralegal I am impressed with the caliber. I can’t say enough good things about the Paralegal Cup.

These students are impressive — in part, a testament to the quality of education they are receiving.

I am really deeply impressed.
I have been in law school moots, I have judged moots, and I have coached moots.
I have never seen more effectively organized and better advocacy demonstrated in a moot competition, anywhere I have been.

Some people said that was way beyond a paralegals' ability.
But my students thought it was great to be able to tackle things they wouldn't get to tackle, and unless the rules change, would never get to tackle.

Moot competitions have long been the mainstay of developing advocacy skills for law students, and competitions for paralegal students to help enhance their skills is an important step in ensuring competency.
These competitions will go further in ensuring that the public interest is protected by providing valuable skills before licensing, and allow students a taste of what courtroom advocacy can feel like.
